2020 saw me become much more serious about running than I had ever been since my first voluntary run back in August 2013.
Much like any other regular story, there have been only successes on my journey and I have vanquished and destroyed any obstacle I’ve faced. No set backs. Only PRs.
But of course for many steps taken forward there have been many many steps backwards. In fact, by January of 2020 I was still only running at the pace, distance and frequency as that of December of 2015 (almost 2 years and some change after I had picked up the sport). I will discuss my journey, if we can call it that, in some future post.
So 2020. Its been a year.
We’ve done things this year though. Some of those things I’m pretty damn proud of.
Brought my 5K PR down from 24:30 to 20:14
Ran the Los Angeles 2020 Marathon!
Set weekly/monthly/yearly distance and frequency records
Met some awesome runners and made some pretty solid friendships along the way.
Didn’t catch Corona. *touch wood*
Ran 841 kilometers.
A little underwhelming considering I had initially planned on running 1000km for the year and titling my first post “1000”, but goals are meant to be not achieved. Regardless, this year contributed to a third of the total kms I’ve accumulated over the past seven years - standing at a career 2996 km as of today.
And of course there have been some lessons learnt along the way as well, which we should get to at some point soon enough.
2020 has set up high expectations for 2021. I understand myself better, what works and what doesn’t. I have realized I’m capable of more than I’ve given myself credit for. I’m excited to record what I think, feel and do as I run and learn on this platform, more as a means to provide more insight to myself than anything else.
2021 - the year of new Personal Records and Personal Bests.
